PRODUCTION

Following the success of the first 101 VOICES concert in 2025, the production featuring more than 100 musicians will return to the stage in Hungary in 2026.

This year, we dive even deeper into the most defining songs of the Depeche Mode legacy. The setlist is more focused and dynamic, while preserving the personal and emotional power of the music. The familiar Depeche Mode sound is presented in a new light, approaching the original works with genuine admiration and respect.

The 2026 concept is simple: every note comes closer to the audience.

The full depth and richness of the symphonic orchestra and the 45-member male choir unfold in a way never seen before in Hungary. The nuances of each song become clearer, more powerful, and even more immersive.

Internally, we have given this year’s concert a working title:
Black Celebration

We consciously return to the creative era when Depeche Mode had already found its unique musical identity, yet continued to experiment boldly with sound and atmosphere. It was during this period that many of the defining songs were born—tracks that still resonate with elemental power among audiences today.

As the iconic album of the same name celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, Black Celebration is more than just a working title—it is a tribute to one of the band’s most influential eras.

The performance places even greater emphasis on the powerful interplay between the male choir, the industrial textures that define Depeche Mode’s sound, and the grandeur of the symphonic orchestra. The repertoire will prominently feature cult classics from the Black Celebration, Music for the Masses, and Violator eras.

The arrangements shift dynamically throughout the evening: at times, the male choir and lead vocals take center stage; at others, the orchestral sound becomes dominant—before the full ensemble comes together to create the evening’s most powerful climaxes.

Conductor Richárd Riederauer describes the concept as follows:

“This is not a ‘reinterpretation’ in the traditional sense. With the symphonic orchestra and the male choir, we aim to reveal deeper layers within Depeche Mode’s music. It’s like looking at something familiar from a new angle—suddenly, new details become visible. This is the only way to preserve the original character of their music without forcing anything onto it.”

Who is this concert for?

  • Depeche Mode fans

  • Lovers of live music looking for a monumental production featuring more than 100 musicians

  • Those seeking a true shared experience

The standing area offers the full energy of a live show for those who want to dance and celebrate, while the comfortable seated sections provide the perfect setting for a more immersive listening experience. 101 VOICES is neither a traditional tribute show nor a conventional symphonic concert. More than 100 musicians, acclaimed Hungarian vocalists, experienced professionals, a conductor, and a dedicated creative team ensure authenticity, while the entire production—from the arrangements to the visual world—has been created by a Hungarian artistic team. More than a concert, it is an artistic creation: every note, every light, and every short film evokes the world of Depeche Mode, brought to life through the shared energy of musicians and audience alike. From fans to fans. 101 VOICES is reborn each year with a completely new concept. The goal: to establish an annual Black Celebration as a tradition—an end-of-year ritual that reveals a new face every single year.
